PROJECT OVERVIEW

State Road 641 Bypass

This SR 641 Bypass project is a four-lane divided, full limited access controlled highway on a new alignment. This roadway will allow local and through travelers to bypass congestion on US 41 in Vigo County when they are traveling in either direction between I-70 west, and US 41 south, of Terre Haute. The SR 641 Bypass will connect US 41 south of Terre Haute to I-70 on the southeast side of Terre Haute.

Project Details

The entire mainline length of SR 641 from the southern terminus to south of Moyer Road (Phase III) would consist of two 12’ travel lanes in each direction with 10’ paved (11’ graded) outside shoulders and 4’ paved (5’ graded) inside shoulders. The median will be a 60’ depressed grass median. The mainline of SR 641 from Moyer Road to Margaret Avenue (Phase IV) would consist of two 12’ through lanes in each direction with a 10’ paved (11’ graded) outside shoulders. The median would transition from a 60’ depressed grass median to a 26’-6” paved median with a barrier wall.
