Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard | Multi-Phased Roadway Reconstruction

ANDERSON, IN—This project involved the widening and reconstruction of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard (Pendleton Avenue). In 2 phases, the 5-mile stretch of 2-lane roadway was widened to five lanes. Traffic was maintained by 1 lane in each direction throughout the construction of the project.

Notable Features

Features of this project included the modernization of traffic signals with pedestrian push buttons at 25th Street, Brown Street, and Jackson Street. New curb and gutters, handicapped accessible ramps and sidewalks were also included. This project eliminated several 6-legged intersections and the relocation of the Anderson Speedway entrance to improve traffic flow and increase safety.
